HEROES

Road traffic injuries were recognized as a major health issue by United Nations and World Health Organization (WHO). In April 2007, the first Global Road Safety Week was dedicated to young road users.  Over the years, several initiatives have been taken by youth volunteer NGOs and universities to link health prevention and road safety on a European level. The link between health prevention and road safety has produced results regarding the young adult target group.

Thirteen European partners compose the HEROES project.  Our goal was to create a long term network that would enable us to exchange effective practices regarding certain topics (road safety, drugs, alcohol and HIV).  This network’s value comes from the different backgrounds of all of the associates.  The partner in charge of the HEROES coordination invited a series of partners from various backgrounds to brainstorm, emerge with new initiatives and carry them out together.
